As it is spring season which is harvest season in India, we visited  sappota farm.Children can climb sappota tree, if
they can climb and pluck fruits on their own.So before climbing and plucking Sapota I let my child talk with the farmer,
they explained him what is the right time to pluck it? How to pluck it?What size/proportion it should be? How to ripe it
without chemicals?and how to store it?.

Visiting farms and interacting with the farmer and with other family who had come for the farm , which enhance social
skills. My child was super excited seeing many sapota trees. Many fruits were of his reachable height , he plucked that
first before climbing.

He also wanted to climb and pluck the fruits, so I let him do that. He was initially scared to climb and after seeing other
kids he was daring to climb the tree and plucked sapota.

Most of the children growing in urban area not aware where the food comes from , By taking children to the farm they
will understand the concept of how the plants are grown and from where and how they get food. Climbing and plucking
the fruits on their own enhance their fine and gross motor skills. And it teaches safety skills  by keeping themselves
protective while climbing on the trees.

By letting the child decide which fruit to pluck out teaches the life skills like problem solving and decision making and
they are getting the freedom to do that.

We carried our own basket to collect the fruits which we were plucked

My child tried to pluck the sapota by fruit picker but he couldn't, do that, because it was too heavy to do that.

so I plucked some fruits using fruit picker
Farmers were carefully collecting the plucked fruits using the net.And he also learned if the Sapota falls from the tree,
it goes waste.

He started weighing the fruits with a balance scale on his own till the farmer comes to the place. And then He helped
farmers by keeping fruits on to the weighing machine.

Then we carried that fruits to home, then he wanted to make milkshake with sappotta. After washing  the fruits he
removed skin and seeds from the fruit and put them into the mixer jar , added sugar and milk, and grinded it.

Now our Milkshake is ready.

we also discussed about nutritional facts and health benefits about sapota.
So I suggest parents take their kids to any kind of farm near your place. They will come to know where the food comes
from and gives nice experience.
